About

My name is Jop.

Marketing coach, strategic sparring partner, and entrepreneur. Over fifteen years in digital marketing. Twelve years as an independent business owner. And still just as curious as on day one.

How it started

My background is in communications and change management. My first job was at an e-learning startup, where we positioned various brands online — back then, that was pioneering work, both from a marketing and content perspective.

From there, my work evolved: first in employment, then with my own agency, and later as an independent strategic consultant. I worked for large international organisations as well as smaller SMEs, and collaborated with digital agencies such as Dept.

From consultant to coach

Increasingly, I noticed that the problem wasn't in the campaigns. It was in the lack of direction. In the gap between marketing and sales. In the lack of internal understanding of what was actually happening.

In my work as a consultant, I often took on a coaching role — as an interim manager guiding my team, as an adviser to leadership. That combination of overview, insight, and deeply human work forms the foundation of my approach today.

What drives me & how I work

Building together, with humour and ambition

I love collaborating and growing together. Sharing my knowledge, serving as a guide in someone else's process — that's what energises me. Especially when there's a genuine interest in putting it into practice. I thrive working with organisations that build alongside me, driven by trust and a growth mindset. Being entrepreneurial, trying things out, learning from them. With a sense of humour.

What I find challenging: the way marketing is talked about in many organisations. As if it's a trick. I believe marketing is about listening. When you do that well, it becomes one of the most important feedback loops for the organisation — and it can help improve every internal process.

I listen carefully and ask honest questions — even when they're uncomfortable. I keep sight of the bigger picture when everyone else is caught up in the chaos of the day. I speak the language of the boardroom, the sales organisation, and the marketing team — and I connect those worlds.

The relationship is what matters most to me. I approach things from a human perspective. That's not always the norm in marketing, but many business owners appreciate it — because they prefer to do business that way too.

As an entrepreneur

I'm a jack of all trades. Alongside Cohere Digital, I have other ventures and activities. I enjoy bringing new initiatives into the world and connecting different worlds with each other.
